The IRATA level 1 certification is the first step in a three tier structure.
Trainees should expect a hard week both mentally and physically as they come to grips with the wide range of access techniques required to pass the independent assessment on the final day. As a qualified Level 1, you will always be working under the supervision of a Level 3 safety supervisor. Safety is an overriding concern during training and assessment. Applicants do not require any previous experience of working at height but must be over the age of eighteen, have a reasonable level of physical and mental dexterity as well as a head for heights.
The course is mainly practical with an emphasis placed on learning techniques safely and efficiently. You will be assessed on the final day by an independent IRATA assessor. On successful completion of the course your qualification will run for three years, you will be issued with a logbook, certificate and ID card. The course duration is five days including the assessement.
The Level 1 qualification will allow qualified industrial tradesmen to access worksites with difficult access in a safe efficient and low impact manner. Common trades on the ropes include inspection, rigging, painting and electrical work.
Please note that the course is physical course so a good level of fitness is essential. Minimum age is 18 years.
