IRATA was formed in the UK in the late 1980’s and is now recognised as the world’s leading authority on industrial rope access with over 400 member companies it has trained in excess of 100,000 rope access Technicians worldwide. IRATA directs and regulates, through its members, the training of all workers seeking its qualifications.

These member companies provide training, operational services, providing working at height solutions in the off-shore oil and gas industry as well as a range of on-shore industries including construction, fabric maintenance and inspection on a wide range of manmade and natural structures.

IRATA International Code of Practice provides guidance on the best practice for carrying out industrial rope access, all IRATA companies must work to the ICOP.

IRATA Training and Certification Scheme is respected worldwide for the level of training provided and for the requirement for recertification every three years to maintain high standards at all levels, from the tradesman to the site supervisor responsible for overall site safety.

All IRATA companies are regularly audited to ensure they comply to IRATA’s high standards.
